Amy Schroeder

Dietitian

Hi, I’m Amy!

I’m a registered dietitian and certified breastfeeding lactation consultant based in Pretoria, with a deep love and passion for helping people feel healthy in their bodies without guilt, restriction, or an unhealthy relationship with food. I love my job!

My journey started in the clinical world — hospitals, ICU, neonatal wards, surgical units, and everything in between — where I worked closely with patients managing complex conditions like Diabetes Mellitus, Chron’s disease, HIV, nutrition through pregnancy, recovery after illness or surgery as well as supporting premature babies nutritionally in the neonatal ward. That experience shaped how I practice today: evidence-based, compassionate, and very real-life focused on what works for you specifically.

I have a special interest in supporting clients with insulin resistance, stubborn weight changes, hormone-related challenges, as well as guiding parents through the different nutritional phases a growing child goes through. I focus on practical nutrition strategies that support blood sugar balance, reduce inflammation, and work with your body — not against it — while still being sustainable in everyday life.

I believe nutrition is directly linked towards your health and your nervous system, to support and flourish — not add more stress to your plate. I take a spiritual route when seeing patients as we are spirit, soul and body interconnected between each other. Whether we’re working on weight concerns, insulin resistance, gut health, breastfeeding challenges, or simply learning how to eat in a way that feels manageable, my approach is always personalized, gentle, and practical.

Alongside adult and hospital nutrition, I’m passionate about helping parents figure out what to feed their children — without overwhelm or fear. I support families in understanding their child’s unique nutritional needs, including children with developmental and special needs.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me deep in a fictional book, testing meal prep ideas or spending time with family.

If you’re looking for a dietitian who leads with evidence-based nutrition, but practices with empathy, you are in the right place 🤍

Sound Start

I am a dedicated educator and remedial reading practitioner with a strong commitment to supporting children who experience learning and reading difficulties. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training from the University of South Africa and bring over eight years of experience working as an educator for learners with special needs.

Over the past decade, I have focused extensively on helping children who struggle with reading, including five years of hands-on experience assisting young learners with remedial reading intervention. My work is grounded in structured literacy, using systematic and evidence-based methods to develop essential phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills that form the foundation for successful learning.

I believe that effective intervention goes beyond academics. I pair structured instruction with a warm, encouraging, and supportive approach that helps children feel safe, confident, and motivated to engage in learning. I work closely with parents to gain a deep understanding of each child’s unique needs, to monitor progress carefully, and to adapt intervention strategies to ensure meaningful and sustained improvement.

My goal is simple – to build strong foundational reading skills while restoring each child’s belief in their own ability to learn, grow, and succeed.

Hi there! I’m Ma’am Chané. I want to help learners feel confident and capable in their schoolwork. I understand that every child learns differently and at their own pace, which is why I offer personalised tutoring and easy-to-understand summaries for all subjects and grades. My aim for them is to simplify challenging work, make learning less stressful, and help learners reach their full potential. Hope to see you soon with positive brainy vibes!
